Acuff admits to conceiving the idea while home for the holidays watching “sappy” Christmas movies with his mom when this ‘Hallmark meets Van Helsing’ idea came to him.
“I laughed and shrugged it off at first,” Acuff says, “because it was pretty ridiculous and my writing slate of next books is very full.”
But by August of 2022 the idea had become a full-blown obsession. And with Christmas 2022 looming large, he had to dive all-in or wait another whole year to time the holiday release. His logic on the subject is fool-proof.
“I decided to kill myself on deadline to make it happen so that Ryan Reynolds could find out about it and turn it into a fun movie in time for Christmas 2023!” he explained.
