BravoBay Books & the Martial Arts History Museum host debut author Frank J. Marquez
Glendale, CA – On a vibrant Saturday afternoon filled with culture, history, and powerful storytelling, debut author Frank J. Marquez celebrated his Amazon Best Selling historical novel A Kingdom Without A King with a special book signing event at the celebrated Martial Arts History Museum in Glendale.

Hosted by museum founder and president Michael Matsuda, a longtime friend of the author, the event drew book lovers, martial artists, and history enthusiasts into a truly one-of-a-kind experience. The museum—designed by artists from Disney, DreamWorks, and The Simpsons—offered the perfect setting for a story that bridges royal drama and the quiet strength of true warriors.

A standout moment of the event was a captivating live reading by actress Marian Butland, who also narrates the upcoming audiobook and official trailer for A Kingdom Without A King. Her performance gave voice to the novel’s powerful heroine, Queen Camila Garcia, whose battle to preserve her throne and protect her people unfolds in a male-dominated 14th-century kingdom.
“Frank’s martial arts background gave this event a special energy,” said Matsuda. “Camila’s strength, both physical and emotional, really mirrors the heart of the martial arts philosophy.”
Set in 1347 Spain, A Kingdom Without A King follows the political and personal turmoil sparked by a dying king’s decision to split his realm between his two children. As Queen Camila faces betrayal from within and threats from beyond, her journey becomes one of resilience, honor, and the true meaning of leadership.

Hosted by BravoBay Books, the event showcased not only a thrilling new literary voice, but also the deep cultural connections between storytelling and the martial traditions that continue to shape history. From swordplay to strategy, A Kingdom Without A King reminds us that sometimes the strongest leader… wears no crown at all.
