It can be a daunting, haunting nemesis sometimes. Staring you down and daring you to write things. Making you question all sorts of life choices!
Here’s a trick…
When you set aside time to write, take 5 minutes at the top to journal about what you’re working on. Free flow, no rules, no pressure just write about your script/novel, where you left off, where you think you wanna go in today’s writing sesh, character questions you had or plot flags that could be a problem. Write about the weather or the Starbucks you’re in or the weird chair you’re sitting on.
Anything! After about 5 minutes. Stop and move over to your script/novel. I call this priming the pump.
It’s getting the juices flowing but in a non-committal safe space. Then launch into your story with the passion of a thousand dead poets! Wait, what?
Cry “Havoc!” and let slip the dogs of prose!!
